Hilmar’s new cheese processing facility located in Dodge City, Kansas showcases QuestCom’s comprehensive ability to provide robust low voltage design and construction services for food and beverage clients throughout the United States. Questcom designed and constructed the entirety of the low-voltage, life-safety, and security systems supporting the new state of the art facility. Our team delivered full design-continuation services, including 100% construction-ready documentation, BIM modeling and coordination services, and ongoing field change design support throughout construction phase. The QuestCom group executed extensive underground infrastructure installation, including telecommunications pathways, fiber-optic distribution, and site-wide connectivity paired with exterior solutions such as pole-mounted surveillance cameras, access-controlled vehicle entry points, and a fully engineered perimeter fence detection system integrated to the Genetec security platform. Each system was carefully designed to support long-term reliability while enabling precision installation through real-world coordinate modeling and in-field robotic total station layout.
Inside the facility, we delivered a robust suite of technology systems built for operational efficiency and safety. This included a full Genetec-based access control ecosystem, a 30-day-storage IP surveillance network, and a Silent Knight intelligent fire alarm system with distributed annunciation and mechanical interlocks. The telecommunications backbone was implemented with high-strand-count fiber, Category 6A copper, fully built-out IDFs, telecommunications grounding and bonding, and an APC server room infrastructure installation. Additional enhancements included a facility-wide tone alert system, conference room audio/video solutions, distributed displays, and timeclock systems. The result is a seamlessly interconnected, highly secure, and operationally flexible environment engineered to meet Hilmar’s present needs and future growth.
